Pursuing Justice For Accident Victims In Indiana

Serious accident takes the lives of 2 teens in Indiana

Anytime a life is lost, it's a tragedy. It's an even greater tragedy when the person who passes away is a child or teen. These individuals had a long, bright future, but that's all over. The loss of a child is painful for his or her parents, community and friends. What's saddest is that many of these losses could have been prevented if a dangerous driver had not been negligent.

In this recent case, a car crash that occurred on April 9 took the lives of two students who went to North West High School. The students, both members of the baseball team, were killed when a driver on Indiana 39 rear-ended their vehicle.

Their vehicle went off the road and hit a tree after the impact. Both boys were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

What caused the accident? Police stated that the 16-year-old girl had been driving and swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid rear-ending the truck the teens were driving. Then, she swerved back into the northbound lane to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle. That's when she hit the teens' pickup truck and forced it off the road.

The teens were pinned in the vehicle when they were discovered by the emergency medical team. They had already passed away. The 16-year-old woman was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital and has been discharged.

The police have reported that the collision is still under investigation, so no charges have been filed. If your teen or someone you love is killed in an accident like this one, know that there are legal options available for you. There does not need to be a criminal case for you to pursue compensation.
