Pursuing Justice For Accident Victims In Indiana

Preventing motorcycle crashes and injuries: The reality

Motorcycle accidents are some of the most severe for several reasons. First, there is no real protection for the rider against anyone who is driving a larger vehicle. Second, there is no way to keep the rider on the vehicle; a single strike could result in the rider being thrown. Finally, there's a high risk of impact and friction wounds, which could lead to serious complications and infections.

The good news is that it is easier than ever to avoid a motorcycle accident. Preventing these crashes starts with good training and safety measures on your motorcycle. Take lessons to learn to drive in unusual conditions and learn to fall or lay down your bike for emergencies. Before and after riding, you should stretch to loosen up. Always wear your helmet and braces to prevent injuries.

When approaching intersections, you should always slow down before proceeding. Likewise, if there is a driver approaching you that you believe may turn, it's better to avoid a collision by slowing or coming to a stop than to assume the driver sees you.

After a motorcycle accident, you may need months or years of physiotherapy to get your body back to where it was before the crash. You may need surgeries for certain injuries or face ongoing adjustments because of a new or worsened disability. Remember, it's your right to hold the person who struck you responsible for the crash. You deserve to receive compensation that will support you as you recover and help you make adjustments to your home that allow you to live comfortably.
