Tragic motorcycle collision lands 4 in the hospital

A vehicle versus motorcycle collision sent four people to the hospital on July 9, and two of the injured were reported to be in critical condition. According to the Berrien County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m., when a 23-year-old driving a Mercury was exiting U.S. 31 close to Niles. Police say that the collision occurred when the 23-year-old struck an 18-year-old Harley Davidson rider who was driving eastbound along U.S. 12.

1 dead, 1 injured in fatal motorcycle crash in Indiana

In motorcycle crashes, there could be several people in harm's way. Passengers often take a significant hit, just as the drivers do. Take, for example, this case out of Indiana. A woman from Michigan was rushed to an Indianapolis hospital following a serious motorcycle accident on State Road 135. The woman, a 60-year-old, had been a passenger on the motorcycle of a 52-year-old man.

Preventing motorcycle crashes and injuries: The reality

Motorcycle accidents are some of the most severe for several reasons. First, there is no real protection for the rider against anyone who is driving a larger vehicle. Second, there is no way to keep the rider on the vehicle; a single strike could result in the rider being thrown. Finally, there's a high risk of impact and friction wounds, which could lead to serious complications and infections.

Stay safe and avoid drunk drivers during the holidays

The holiday period between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is one of the most dangerous of the year for drivers. People are more likely to drive while drunk, and that makes them a risk to others on the roads. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has shown that the risk of being in an accident with drunk drivers increases significantly during the holidays.

Motorcyclist dies after serious truck accident in Indiana

It's never good news when you hear that a motorcyclist has been hit by a car. In these cases, there can be shared faults, but the loss of a life trumps all. When a person doesn't pay attention and causes an accident, it's important that he or she is held accountable for that error.

Why do most motorcycle crashes happen?

Motorcyclists crash for many reasons, but it's known that around two-thirds of all crashes are a result of other drivers. Most crashes involve a passenger vehicle, so it's important for motorcyclists to know how to avoid these collisions and what to expect when they're on the roads.

Tips to get you noticed as a motorcycle rider

If you own a motorcycle, you probably want to take it out on the open road as often as possible. The trouble is, the open road can be dangerous simply because your footprint is not nearly as large as the SUV in front of you or the tractor trailer in the next lane.
