Fort Wayne Accident Ranking

It surprises some to learn that in terms of population, Fort Wayne is Indiana’s second-largest city, trailing only the capital city of Indianapolis.

However, given that this northeastern Indiana city is only 18 miles west of Ohio’s border and 50 miles south of Michigan, it makes sense as to why the city is called home by so many Hoosiers as well as a transportation route for daily commuters and trucking companies.

As with any big city, Fort Wayne is also crisscrossed by thousands of miles of highways, interstates, and rural roads that serve as a setting for a large number of Indiana’s car accidents.

In fact, according to Indiana University Public Policy Institute’s 2019 Crash Facts, Allen County ranked third for the total number (13,976) of automobile accidents throughout the Hoosier state, with Marion County and Lake County accounting for the #1 and #2 rankings, respectively.

Throughout his 25+ years of experience with Indiana personal injury cases, attorney Matt Boulton has represented a number of clients who were injured in Fort Wayne car, truck, and motorcycle accidents.

Fort Wayne Truck Accident Case

Matt has investigated and handled a number of Fort Wayne car and truck accident cases for Allen County residents who were injured through no fault of their own, such as incidents similar to the following example.

This particular incident involved a rear-end collision between two trucks that left the victim with various soft-tissue injuries which increased in severity in the days following the accident.

According to the crash report filled out by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the accident occurred at 3:47 pm on W Jefferson Boulevard near the intersection of Amber Road.

Fort Wayne truck accident diagram

Driver 1 advised she was west on W. Jefferson and never saw Vehicle 2 westbound until she ran into the back of him. She suffered an injury to her right wrist but refused medics. Driver 2 advised he pulled out of the far east entrance of the Lassus Station at 12012 W. Jefferson, and about a block later he advised he was hit in the rear. From where Driver 2 pulled out, to the first pieces of debris from vehicle 1, was about 1.5 blocks.

Driver 2 advised he was not injured from the crash but his front seat co-worker/passenger complained of neck pain and back pain and was lying flat on the curb upon the officer’s arrival. He was transported to Lutheran Hospital by TRAA medic truck 0270.

All parties were issued control numbers and instructions. Vehicle 1 suffered heavy front-end damage and Vehicle 2 was mostly protected by the iron protective structure at the rear of the truck. There still was moderate damage to Vehicle 2.

The force of the collision caused property damage estimated by the officer to be at $5,000.
