Greenwood Personal Injury Lawyer

An award-winning lawyer that puts his clients first—no exceptions. You pay nothing until we win your case.

One of Indiana’s fastest-growing communities, Greenwood has transformed dramatically over the last two decades. What was once a quiet suburb on the southside of Indianapolis has evolved into a thriving city of more than 68,000 residents, and that growth shows no signs of slowing down.

Greenwood’s popularity is easy to understand. With Greenwood Park Mall serving as Indiana’s second-largest enclosed shopping center, an increasing number of corporate and industrial businesses, and convenient access to I-65, I-465, I-69, and U.S. Route 31, the city draws traffic from across the entire state.

Unfortunately, that growth has come at a cost. Heavily traveled roadways like U.S. 31, State Road 135, and County Line Road have become increasingly congested, and serious accidents on these roads are a daily reality for Greenwood residents and visitors alike.

If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a Greenwood accident, attorney Matt Boulton wants to hear your story.

In addition to a winning track record, attorney Boulton brings 30+ years of experience, award-winning recognition, and tailored legal strategies to every client’s case.

Additionally, every client works exclusively with attorney Boulton. He handles every facet of every case from start to finish, making it one more reason he is sought after by accident victims throughout the state.

Dangerous Roads and Intersections in Greenwood

Attorney Boulton’s years of experience and statewide case investigations have shown that rapid population growth and increased traffic volume are a difficult and dangerous combination for any sized community. Greenwood is no exception.

U.S. 31

Serving as one of the city’s oldest highways, U.S. 31 is the city’s primary north-south roadway and one of the most heavily traveled roads in Johnson County.

The stretch running through central Greenwood sees constant commercial and commuter traffic and has long been associated with a high volume of rear-end and intersection-related collisions, particularly during morning and evening rush hours as well as on the weekends.

State Road 135

Equally busy, State Road 135 runs parallel to U.S. 31 and serves as an alternative north-south route through Greenwood.

A large amount of new construction, residential and commercial, has been the primary cause for State Road 135’s congestion and traffic challenges, especially at its many intersections, such as Smith Valley Road, County Line, and Fry Road.

Due to State Road 135’s high traffic volume and large number of intersections, rear-end collisions and t-bone traffic accidents are common occurrences, with a number of these incidents resulting in serious injury.

County Line Road

Especially familiar to commuters, County Line Road serves as the northern boundary of Greenwood and connects the city to Indianapolis.

A significant number of injury-related accidents occur on County Line Road due to the dense concentration of retail, professional offices, medical facilities, and interstate access to I-65 north and south.

Rear-end collisions are a concern on County Line Road, but there have also been a large number of T-bone-style collisions due to the large, heavily traveled intersections at Emerson, Madison, U.S. 31, and State Road 135.

I-65

Approximately 5 miles of I-65 run through Greenwood. Along this stretch of the major interstate, travelers can expect to encounter heavy traffic, sudden slowdowns, and multiple on-off exit ramps.

Like the majority of Indiana’s interstates, Greenwood’s portion of I-65 sees large numbers of commercial vehicles, which has resulted in a number of incidents involving semi-trucks.

The section of I-65 running through Greenwood has also seen far greater numbers of vehicles in recent years due to new residential areas being constructed throughout this area.

I-69

Formerly known as State Road 37, I-69 is now the official roadway that runs north-south through Indiana, with a significant section passing through the west side of Greenwood.

A large number of I-69 Greenwood accidents involve factors such as speeding and distracted driving. There are also a number of newly constructed entrance and exit ramps that have created added risks for unsuspecting drivers.

Additionally, I-69 near Greenwood sees significant commercial traffic involving semi-trucks and dump trucks.

Madison Avenue and Smith Valley Road

This intersection is located just west of U.S. 31 and has historically been one of the most congested and accident-prone intersections in all of Johnson County. Local traffic data has identified this area as having an unusually high number of reported incidents, prompting the city to invest in infrastructure improvements in recent years.

Stop 11 and Madison

Technically, this intersection is positioned in Indianapolis, however, it sees significant traffic from people traveling to, from and throughout the Greenwood area.

Over the years, there have been a number of serious collisions involving automobiles, pedestrians, and bicyclists, resulting in traumatic injuries as well as wrongful deaths.

If your accident occurred on any of these roads, or anywhere in the Greenwood area, attorney Boulton can obtain your police report and supplemental materials, review the details of your claim, and advise you on your legal options at absolutely no cost.

Greenwood Car Accident Case

In most cases, car and truck accidents that occur in Greenwood receive little to no media coverage. As a result, residents are often unaware of how frequently these collisions occur, even when multiple vehicles are involved.

After a client contacted the firm regarding injuries sustained in a car accident near County Line and Emerson, one of Greenwood’s more dangerous intersections, attorney Boulton began his investigation by obtaining a copy of the police report filed by the Greenwood Police Department.

According to the narrative, the officer who filed the report was an eyewitness to the collision. In his report, the officer observed a Ford Fusion (defendant’s vehicle) entering traffic facing north onto County Line Road from a private drive just west of Emerson Avenue. It appeared that a vehicle was attempting to let the defendant’s vehicle enter into traffic. As the defendant’s vehicle entered into traffic, the officer observed a Ford F-150 (client’s vehicle) traveling westbound on County Line Road just west of Emerson Avenue. As the defendant’s vehicle entered into traffic, it entered into our client’s path, causing them to strike the defendant’s vehicle.

The final investigation and accident report cited Failure to Yield Right of Way as the official cause of this accident, with the defendant being placed fully at fault.

The officer’s diagram below confirmed the victim’s account of the events.

The impact resulted in a t-bone collision that caused significant damage to both vehicles and resulted in injuries to our client that required medical attention and follow-up treatment in the days that followed.

Attorney Boulton was able to confirm liability and build a powerful case on behalf of his client that forced the insurance company to meet the firm’s demands and issue full and complete payment for medical bills, damages, as well as pain and suffering.

Common Causes of Greenwood Car Accidents

While Greenwood possesses unique traffic patterns and challenges, the primary causes of the city’s traffic accidents are often due to similar dangers seen in collisions throughout Indiana.

Attorney Boulton has identified the following liability factors as common causes of Greenwood car accidents:

  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Driving under the influence
  • Disobeying traffic signals
  • Driver inexperience

In the days following the collision, your official Indiana accident report will be made available for purchase. The primary cause of the accident will be named in this report.

If you haven’t already obtained a copy of your report, attorney Boulton will collect it on your behalf. Reviewing the report and conducting any necessary follow-up investigations are the first steps he takes toward building his Greenwood clients’ accident cases.
