Head-on Truck Collision Results in Serious Injury & Case Settlement

Posted Nov 12, 2025 by Matt Boulton

Head-on collisions between two vehicles are rare, but when they happen, they’re often responsible for the most serious types of auto accident injuries.

Attorney Matt Boulton has represented a number of injured Hoosiers who were involved in a head-on collision. These cases account for some of the most complex and high-stakes outcomes in auto accident personal injury law.

Recently, an Indiana accident victim asked attorney Boulton for help with a high-profile case that saw a dump truck cross center and strike him in his oncoming semi-truck.

This blog takes a closer look at the details behind the semi-truck vs. dump truck accident case that attorney Boulton investigated, handled, and recently settled on behalf of his client.

Head-on Truck Accident Details

Indiana State Police (ISP) were dispatched to the 4500 block of County Road 825 West (CR 825 W) to provide assistance and gather details necessary for completing the initial accident report.

According to the narrative contained in the accident report, shortly before the collision, Vehicle 1 (dump truck) had been travelling northbound on CR 825 W, and Vehicle 2 (semi-truck) had been heading south on CR 825 W.

As the two trucks approached each other from opposite directions, the dump truck unexpectedly veered to the right and was momentarily traveling in a ditch off the road along CR 825 W.

In an attempt to get back onto the roadway, the driver turned the wheel to his left, inadvertently oversteering and crossing into the lane of the oncoming semi-truck.

As illustrated in the accident diagram, the semi-truck driver advised officers that they saw the dump truck cross center, which led them to brake as hard as possible in an attempt to avoid the collision, however, they were unable to do so.

Truck Accident Victim’s Injuries

As a result of the head-on truck accident, the semi-truck driver sustained a number of serious injuries, including:

  • Crush injury to the left hand that led to permanent impairment.
  • Flap laceration to the top of head. (Flap injuries are significant skin lacerations that can also result in muscle, nerve, and bone damage.)
  • Neck injury.
  • Right and left lower leg pain.

The driver of the dump truck was unconscious at the accident scene and was transported to the hospital with serious bodily injuries.

Due to the serious nature of the truck accident, the driver of the semi sought out help from a local Indiana personal injury attorney.

After finding Boulton Lw Group online, the semi-truck driver reached out to attorney Boulton to request an initial consultation and guidance regarding potential outcomes and next steps.

Hiring an Indiana Attorney for Head-on Truck Collision

The legal aftermath of any head-on truck collision can quickly become complicated for victims due to a number of reasons, including:

  • Disagreement(s) concerning liability (fault).
  • Locating appropriate insurance coverage(s).
  • Understanding state and federal regulations for semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles.
  • Securing appropriate evidence, e.g., trucker daily log books, black box retrieval.

Because victims of head-on truck collisions typically incur such serious injuries, they shouldn’t be expected to deal with ensuring these hassles are appropriately handled. Instead, their primary focus should be limited to the complete recovery of their health.

However, this can be compromised by interference from insurance companies, contact from various bill collectors, wage loss, and attempts to navigate Indiana’s legal system.

Fortunately, none of these distractions need bother truck accident victims who retain the services of a top-rated Indiana personal injury attorney.

In the case of the injured truck driver, attorney Boulton was able to manage his client’s case, handle all necessary communications and personal matters, as well as resolve the case in a timely fashion on behalf of his client.
