Semi-Truck vs. Car Accident on I-70 Leaves One Dead, One Injured
November 15, 2020 — Indianapolis, Indiana
An early, Saturday morning accident along I-70 involving a semi-truck and a car has ended in tragedy.
According to Indiana State Police (ISP), they received a call at approximately 3:45 a.m. that informed them of a collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. Sadly, it was reported that one person was fatally injured and another required emergency transport services to a local area hospital.
Initial reports have pinpointed the I-70 collision as having occurred near the Ronald Reagan Parkway, just west of the Indianapolis Airport.
At this time, ISP is conducting an ongoing investigation of the crash site to try and determine the cause of the accident.

UPDATE: ISP has released additional information regarding the cause of the accident, stating that the driver of the car crashed into the back of the semi as it was pulled over on the shoulder of I-70 eastbound.
Strong rains were reported in the area at the time of the collision and ISP believes the severe weather was a factor in the accident.
The passenger of the car suffered fatal injuries after being thrown from the vehicle. The driver of the car suffered unspecified injuries, and the semi-truck driver was uninjured.
ISP also stated that the driver of the car and semi would be tested for alcohol and/or illegal substances, in accordance with Indiana law.
